What is your motivation?
Too many today, even in the “church”, seek personal gain. More income, better job, newer car, more friends, fun things to do, easier life, better health, the list goes on and on. Personal gain.
These people Jesus talked to were fed through a mighty miracle. Multiplying 5 loaves of bread plus 2 fish to feed five thousand families. Yet they ate and their heart was not changed. They sought more food, easier life, more prosperity. They didn’t seek Jesus, they sought what He could do for them
How sad. How incredibly sad.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing in this life that can compare to walking with Jesus in the quiet garden. All the wealth and health and pleasure of the world is but dirty rags by comparison. Imagine if you will… Sitting still in the presence of the God that created the universe and listening to His words, experiencing His glory, just being loved and forgiven. What would you give for that?
Jesus says, give it all. Die to self. Stop living in and for this life. Stop worrying about money and pleasure. Stop seeking things… Stop living life on your terms. Die. Cease to exist. And give your life to Him, live every minute of every day seeking to please Jesus, bring glory to Jesus. Give everything, and live in His presence.
Do you really want a better job? What if someone at your present one needs to hear and see Jesus in you? Want more income? What if God is showing you the glory of living on faith instead of numbers? Want a vacation? What if someone near will not be alive when you return and you miss the last chance to speak to them? What if…. Just trust God to guide you instead of seeking your own path. Seek Him first.
Chasing after the stuff of this life is pointless, it will all end soon and go away forever. Instead, seek what is real, what lasts; treasure in heaven, pleasing the Creator, returning to the garden of Eden.
You can know Jesus. He is alive and well, and He knocks at your door. Our own selfishness and self-centeredness keeps the door shut. We must cease our own life to live His. But you CAN live with Jesus daily! A constant presence and peace. His voice. His thoughts. It is real…
All you must do is die to self. Stop chasing the food, the money, the stuff of life. Instead seek Jesus because His glory passes all understanding, it is overwhelming, it is life. If you end up rich, thank Him and give it away. If you end up poor, thank Him and live for Christ. But seek Him from a pure motive.
Ask God right now to cleanse your heart of selfishness, of world seeking. Ask Him to set things right inside you, to purify your heart, your desires.
This stuff is real! We aren’t talking about religion. Religion and tradition fills the belly but leaves the heart hungry. We are talking about actually walking with Jesus. He is resurrected, and alive. Won’t you let Him in?
Open the door… Not for what He does, but for who He is.
